"This church, which already existed in 1403, was enlarged in the 16th century (1565) on the initiative of Dom Álvaro de Castro. Its walls are panelled with blue and white azulejos dating from the first half of the 18th century. The main doorway is Baroque. The Gothic sculpture of Saint Peter, in stone (15th century), comes originally from the Romanesque Chapel of São Pedro, whose ruins are still to be seen on the perimeter of the Moorish Castle."
